The Churches of

Holy Cross Binstead and

St Peter’s Havenstreet in the Ryde Plurality

Welcome

A very warm welcome to all worshipping with us today. Please do join us for refreshments

after the service.

Readings for the Feast of St Matthew (14th Sunday after Trinity)

Proverbs 3 13 - 18;

2 Corinthians 4 1 - 6;

Matthew 9 9 - 13

Prayer for 14th Sunday after Trinity

Heavenly Father, keep us from ungodly and unprincipled thinking. Keep the eyes of our

hearts looking to Jesus for our provision and protection. Prevent us, from looking to our own

sources for security. May we have undivided hearts that look to Jesus for all that we need,

Amen

Prayers for the Feast of St Matthew

Heavenly Father, as we reflect on the passage from Matthew, where You, through Your Son

Jesus Christ, called Matthew from his life as a tax collector and welcomed the outcasts and

sinners into Your presence, we thank You that You do not see us through the lens of our past

or our mistakes, but rather through the potential of who we can become in You.

Holy Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking the guidance and wisdom

exemplified by St. Matthew. May his dedication inspire us to share the Good News and serve our communities with love. Grant us the strength to follow Your path, as Matthew did, and to fulfil our calling in Your name.

Amen.

We pray for those who are sick and who ask for our prayers: Patrick, Mark and Debbie,

Mike, Joan C, Emma, Arthur, and Gill. We also remember silently in our hearts: Heather,

Rest in peace

Havenstreet from 1988 until 1999
