Here is the notice from the Holy Cross Church Wardens referred to in last week’s sheet:
A big Thank You to our wonderful team at Holy Cross from St Nicholas Day to Twelfth Night (6th December to 6th January) It's been busy.
St Nicholas Day was in competition with many other island events but still managed a steady flow of visitors to see St Nicholas working by candlelight with his quill pen..and to enjoy raffles and the display of nativity scenes. Thank you to all who worked and visited on the day.
Thank you to Binstead school who decorated our Christmas tree, and enjoyed leaning about the Christmas story with Rodney and Sandie.
It was great to host our friends from the Binstead Methodist Church again this year and to enjoy a hot drinks and a mince pie afterwards (the singing especially the descants were great).
Nathan took the Carols by Candlelight to a packed church, visitors outnumbering the small Holy Cross team and everyone left with a smile on their faces. Two hours later we were back for Midnight Mass taken by Vickie and this was well received by all - the church doors finally closed at 1.00am.
Then back on Christmas morning for Holy Communion with David; this time the congregation outnumbered the visitors. Three days later we welcomed the plurality members with a service of Christmas Praise with Heath and David which was a happy and amusing collection of readings and carols. Thank you to all the hard workers, you know who you are.
The church looked beautiful with flowers arranged by Margaret and the Flower Ladies and the pillars by Debbie. You will have noticed that the Sanctuary lamp has now been repaired after many months of darkness and the church porch was completed with the notice boards all repaired in time for Christmas.
We haven't finished yet ..Full details of the Candlemas Meal -7th February; See the Information Table at the back of the church; please take a leaflet read the instructions and choose your menu.
Thank you for all your support and a Happy New Year from your Church Wardens
