Prayer for the Second Sunday of Lent
Gracious and Loving God,
In this Lenten journey, we come before You with hearts open to Your Spirit.
You remind us that to see Your kingdom, we must be made new —
not by our own strength, but by the breath of Your love.
Amen
Prayer for the sick
We pray for those who are sick and who ask for our prayers: Patrick, Mike, Joan C, Emma, Neil, Joan L, Brenda, John and Elizabeth L'E. We also remember silently in our hearts: Heather, Jackie, Ann, Dave, Monica, Hester, Kerry, Izabel and Paul.
Rest in peace
We remember those who have died recently and pray for their families at this sad time.
Gerald Barnes
In Memoriam
We pray for all those who remember the anniversary of those who are recorded in our memorial book for this week
James Edwin Benton, Betty Byerley, Barbara Hobbs, Jean Sylvia Coyne, Kevin Christopher Oldham, Catherine Rachel Harbour, Bertie and Beatrice Hayles, Stephen Donald Barton, Rex Burton, Sheila Catherine Deacon, Frederick William Price, Norma Nugent
Generosity Review at Holy Cross
The Holy Cross PCC is looking at financial donations and, as part of a nationwide CofE project "Cornerstone", would like to gather the views of those who give to the church. If you do give money to the church, even if on an occasional basis, we should be very grateful if you would find a few minutes to complete the attached multiple choice questionnaire. Please return to Mike Coeshott at mikejcoe@aol.com
If you prefer, you can also complete an online version:
Please note:
The questionnaire asks for a code, which is 629126
The survey is treated anonymously. You do NOT need to fill in your name.
The deadline for responses is Sunday 1st March, although earlier returns very welcome.
Electoral Roll Revision 2026
In preparation for the APCM on Monday 13 April 2026, the Church Electoral Roll will be revised from 15 March to 29 March 2026.
If you would like to join the Electoral Roll, or need to update your details, please complete an application form, which will be available at the back of church during these dates.
To be eligible, you must be baptised, aged 16 or over (or become 16 in the next year), and either live in the parish or have worshipped here regularly for at least six months. Please see the notice board for the formal notice of revision giving further details.
Completed forms must be returned by no later than Sunday 29 March 2026.
Please speak to the Electoral Roll Officer, Christine Palmer, or one of the Churchwardens for further information.
Easter Egg Raffle 2026
We shall be having our lovely Easter Raffle again this year and Tina said she would very much like someone to help her. This is a very well organised and popular event. Please have a chat with Tina if you can help in any way.
Thanks
A big thank you to Margaret Hendy who for many years has been supervising and arranging flowers at our church and now has reluctantly decided this is the time to retire.
If you would like to join the flower arrangers please do let one of the church wardens know as occasional help is always required, Easter, Harvest, Christmas etc.
Thank you very much Margaret with our love.
