A Prayer for the Seventeenth Sunday after Trinity

O Sovereign Lord, God of all creation, we bow before You, acknowledging Your supreme

authority over heaven and earth. As the chief priests questioned Jesus’ authority, we confess our own moments of doubt and resistance. Teach us to listen with open hearts, to submit our questioning to faith, and to recognise that true authority comes from You alone. Grant us wisdom to discern Your will, to follow Your Word, and to live in obedience.

Amen.

We pray for those who are sick and who ask for our prayers:

Joan C, Emma, Brenda, John, Tim, Catherine, Elizabeth, Millie, Jackie, Paul B, Clay and Dariel. We also remember silently in our hearts: Heather, Ann, Dave, Monica, Hester, Kerry, Izabel and Paul.

Rest in peace

This year we will be taking donations of non-perishable

food items for a hamper that we will be donating to the Foodbank. A monetary donation can

also be made if preferred. Following the morning Harvest service, we will be serving Apple

cake and cream and very much hope you will join us.

(2) Vectis Brass Band Autumn Concert

Holy Cross Church, 7 pm on Thursday 8

October, helping to raise funds for a defibrillator. Free entry with retiring collection (a poster

accompanies the e-version of this pew leaflet).

Help required:

Paul and Sandra would like a bit of help with cleaning the church on Monday mornings 9.00

to 10.30. After the work in the chancel there is some very fine dust around the woodwork and it needs a fine brush and some patience - lovely as the carvings are they do attract the dust. Nothing heavy; you can even sit down if necessary. Ring (01983) 638198 if can spare some time.

Bell Plate Choir

whatever is that?? Did you know we have a set of bell plates at

Holy Cross (like hand bells but different design) We are looking for 6 volunteers who would

like to learn how this is done and be ready to "give it a whirl" some time over Christmas.

Never too old to learn something new and it does keep the "little grey cells" in good working

order. Talk to Rodney who has a bit more information.

Road closures in Binstead, dates notified:

Church Road closed 25 May – 31 July; Pitts Lane closed 31 July – 9 October

(As of September 13th, Church Road was open as far as the track to the west that forms the

coast path. Beyond that, there was a trench by the hedge approaching the junction with Pitts Lane and a fenced hole in the middle of the junction with Pitts Lane and Ladies Walk!

Getting past this hole to the area of car parking by the church is possible with care.)
