Prayer for the Baptism of Christ

Eternal Father, who at the baptism of Jesus revealed him to be your Son, anointing him

faithful to our calling as your adopted children; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord.

Amen.

A big Thank You

To all who helped with events at Holy Cross from 6th December to 6th

January. The flowers, Christmas Tree, nativity scene, readers, cleaners, mince pie makers,

washers up, early morning risers who attended to the heating, candle lighters, bell ringer,

and sides people who welcomed visitors all aided a very good Holy Cross Christmas. For

more details of what took place and who was involved, see the notice in church.

A Message from Rev Health

Dear friends,

I hope you had a joyful Christmas and a very happy New Year.

Across our many busy Christmas services, it was wonderful to see thousands of people joining us — many perhaps for the first time. This has filled me with real hope and encouragement, as it reminds us that people are open and curious to hear more about Jesus and the good news he brings.

Thank you to the many dedicated people on teams who work so faithfully to help our churches serve the needs of Ryde and the surrounding communities. Your passion, generosity, and servant-hearted commitment have made a profound difference over the past year, and you are valued and your efforts do not go unnoticed. Together we are strengthened by prayer and a shared purpose; to make Jesus known, we continue to stand firm and hopeful. What a remarkable team you are and I thank God for each of you. I truly hope you have been able to take some time to rest, recover, and recharge.

Church was at the forefront of social transformation this Christmas with the Love your Neighbour team working closely in partnership with Aspire and with The Salvation Army to provide hygiene essentials, food hampers, meals, toy appeal, vouchers to those in need. Even able to provide accommodation to a family in need and get them a grant for a television – just in time for Christmas – all playing our part and in Jesus words “it is more blessed to give than receive”.

As we step into this new year, we do so with hope. The days will grow longer, and before too long the weather will begin to warm. I am excited about what lies ahead, particularly as several building projects and plans move forward. These developments will help us create spaces that are fit for worship, better serve our communities, and inspire new ways of gathering, sharing love and our purpose with all of our communities.

With the continued commitment, collaboration, and prayer of this community, I am confident that we will see God at work in even greater ways in the year ahead. Let us move forward together with unity and purpose, seeking the flourishing of our churches and the communities we are called to serve.

As Scripture encourages us in our local mission:

“Seek the peace and prosperity of the place to which I have carried you… Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” (Jeremiah 29:7)

Wishing you a restful and joyful season, and I look forward to serving alongside you all in 2026.

With every blessing,

Rev Heath
